Ford Strikes Twice in 6-0 Win Over Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. – Freshman Gus Ford (Falmouth, Maine) scored two goals and added an assist to help Saint Joseph's College (8-1-2, 7-0-0 GNAC) blow past Rivier University (3-8-0, 1-6-0 GNAC), 6-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer contest on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks kicked off the scoring in the 12th minute when Colin Grant (Harvard, Mass.) converted a penalty kick for his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Ford connected for his first tally of the day off a Kuma Onyejose (East Greenwich, R.I.) assist seven minutes later and senior Jackson Fotter (Gorham, Maine) pocketed an unassisted marker at the 41:04 mark to make it a 3-0 game heading into intermission.

Freshman Rion Dos Santos (Falmouth, Maine) hit pay dirt at the 47-minute mark and Onyejose tacked on his fifth goal of the year off a Ford feed and Ford closed out the scoring in the 78th minute with classmate Chris Theodores (Cumberland Foreside, Maine) earning credit for the assist.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held a 21-1 lead in shots with an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

THE KEEPERS:

St. Joe's split time in net as graduate student David Walbridge (Hampden, Mass.) made one save in the first half and junior Mike Sheridan (Folsom, Pa.) was untested in the second stanza. Rivier keeper Sebastian Lembo made five saves in the loss.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
