Now in his 3rd season as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program and reserve team head coach, Andy Halligan came to Saint Joseph’s College after spending four years (2017-20) as the first assistant for the University of New England men’s soccer program and 10 seasons (2007-16) as the first assistant with the women's soccer program at the University of Southern Maine. Halligan also spent two seasons (2005-06) as  the varsity assistant and freshman team head coach at Cheverus High School.

Halligan played one season at the University of North Carolina Charlotte (2000-01) where the team advanced to the semi-finals of the Conference USA tournament before transferring to the University of Maine. He played three seasons (2002-04) for the Black Bears including the 2003 campaign when they made the team’s first America East Conference tournament appearance in 14 years.

A 2005 graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in history, Halligan played on two state championship winning teams and was an All-State scholastic player while attending Falmouth High School.  Halligan later earned a Master's Degree in Recreation and Sport Science at Ohio University in 2017.

Halligan continues to be active locally at the state and club level as the State Director for the Maine Olympic Development Program for soccer and working with the Maine Lightning Soccer Club as the U18, 19 head coach and club coach mentor.

Halligan is a USSF nationally licensed coach and holds a Master’s Degree in Soccer Coaching, Advanced National Diploma, and Goalkeeping Level II diploma from United Soccer Coaches.
