Regis Defeats Saint Joseph's, 152-79

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College fell to Regis College, 152-79, in men's swimming action at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Saturday afternoon.

The event opened on a high note, as junior Alex Gilvey (Windham, Maine), senior Adam Gaulin (Belfast, Maine), sophomore Ben Johnson (Belmont, Mass.) and senior Preston Bowden (Biddeford, Maine) combined to win the 200-Medley Relay by .16 of a second with a 1:45.29 effort.

Johnson won the 50-Breast with a 30.88 effort and topped the field in the 50-Fly with a 25.78 time while Gilvey won the 400-IM (4:50.40) and finished second in the 50-Back (27.28) and 100-Back (58.18) races.

Gaulin was the runner-up in the 200-Free (2:01.03) and 100-Breast (1:07.23), Bowden placed second in the 100-Free (53.25), and junior Andrew Merlino (Natick, Mass.) finished second in the 100-Fly (1:04.64). Sophomore Dakota Dupuis (Dedham, Mass.) notched third-place finishes in the 50-Free (26.20) and 100-Free (59.54) events.

Saint Joseph's travels to Husson University on Saturday for a head to head event versus the Eagles. The meet begins at 12:00 PM.
