Outdoor Track Teams Perform Well at Bowdoin College

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College outdoor track & field teams competed at Bowdoin College on Saturday. The men finished second with 21 points and the women were third with 11 points in the event.

Overall, the teams combined to post four top-finishes with nine team-record efforts in what was one of the program's best performances to date.

 

THE RUNDOWN- MEN:

  • Junior Billy Brooks (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) won the 200-Meter (23.50) and was the runner-up in the 100-Meter (11.75) and posted new SJC outdoor record times in both events
  • Senior Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, Maine) won the 400-Meter (52.69) and was seventh in the 200-Meter (24.39)
  • Freshman Christian Morneweck (Burlington, Mass.) won the high jump with a 1.83 meter effort, placed fourth with a team-record effort in the long jump (6.03m), and was sixth in the 100-Meter (12.54)
  • Freshman Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) competed in the decathlon event and finished as the runner-up with 4,146 points after winning the pole vault (3.45m), long jump (5.36m), shot put (10.67m), discus (26.94m) and javelin throw (37.42m) events. He also placed second in the 100-Meter (12.3), 400-Meter (1:03.29), 1500-Meter (6:38.51), 110-Meter hurdles (19.00) and high jump (1.55m) competitions and, in the process, set new team records in the discus, shot put and pole vault events. 
  • Junior Connor Dufour (Augusta, Maine) placed sixth in the 400-Meter (56.07) and 11th in the 200-Meter (26.19)
  • Junior Mark McCarraher (Franklin, Mass.) placed eighth in the 200-Meter (24.89) and ninth in the 400-Meter (57.03)
  • Junior Matthew DiBiase (South Portland, Maine) finished fifth in the discus throw (19.64m), seventh in the long jump (4.88m), eighth in the 100-Meter (12.97) and 13th in the 200-Meter (26.97)
  • Michael Scala was ninth in the 100-Meter (13.10) and 12th in the 200-Meter (26.86)
  • Freshman Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) placed 13th with a team-record time in the 5000-Meter (17:07.4)
  • The Monks' 4x400 meter relay team, featuring AbdillahiBrooksDufour and McCarraher, finished third wit ha 3:56.08 time
 

THE RUNDOWN- WOMEN:

  • Senior Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) won the 5000-Meter and shattered the previous team best with a 19:02.45 effort
  • Senior Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) placed third in the 5000-Meter (19:44.10)
  • Sophomore Gabby Lodge (Westbrook, Maine) was fourth in the discus throw (28.55) and fifth in the 100-Meter (14.95) and 200-Meter (30.87) events
  • Freshman Kyrie Harnden (Wilton, Maine) finished seventh in the 100-Meter (15.65) and 200-Meter (32.15)
  • Sophomore Jill Keimach (Scarborough, Maine) placed 10th in the 100-Meter (17.23) and 11th in the 200-Meter (35.23)
  • Freshman Norma Waggett (Saugus, Mass.) was the runner-up and set a new team record in the high jump (1.45m)
 
The Monks return to action next Saturday with an appearance in the Colby College Invitational.
