Hendricks Named Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

STANDISH, Maine – Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Mike Burleson is pleased to announce that Troy Hendricks '22 has been hired on as Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Saint Joseph's College.

Hendricks, a standout runner for the SJC Cross Country and Track & Field program, is sticking around after fulfilling his NCAA athletic eligibility by competing last year as a graduate student. The recent 2022 graduate brings a wealth of leadership experience and knowledge of the sport to the position, as he was a heavily involved student-athlete during his undergrad here at Saint Joseph's College.

"I'm very excited to be named Assistant Coach for the Cross Country and Track & Field programs," adds Hendricks. "Having been a part of the Saint Joseph's College community for the past five years as a student-athlete, I'm looking forward to transitioning into the role of assistant coach and learning as much as I can from the amazing coaches on staff. I have an unmatched passion for Monks Cross Country and Track & Field. It's had an everlasting impact on my life, and I hope that I can make an impact on future Monks just as the coaching staff did for me."

Hendricks graduated from SJC with an impressive 3.94 GPA as a communications major, while starring for the Monks' cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field programs under head coach Tom Dann. He is currently finishing the last year of his graduate program in the MBA Leadership Online Program here at SJC. A Hiram, Maine native, Hendricks was an SJC SAAC member and President, a team captain for all three programs, and an SJC Sports Information Intern since 2019.

In four NCAA seasons, Hendricks placed as the Monks' top finisher in 31 of 33 cross country events and garnered GNAC Cross Country All-Conference honors each year, capping his career off as GNAC Runner of the Year, winning the 2022 GNAC Cross Country Championship. As a standout three-season athlete, he claimed 12 GNAC weekly accolades – eight for cross country and four for track & field. The 2022 SJC Male Athlete of the Year, 2022 SJC Athletics Neile Nelson Award recipient, and 2022 GNAC Man of the Year owns eight Monks' track & field records (four in each season).

"We are excited and proud to have Troy come onboard as an assistant coach," adds Burleson. "His energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and positive attitude will have an immediate impact on our program."
