Track & Field Program Competes at Bowdoin College

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed in the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday. The men placed fifth with 21 points while the women finished sixth with seven points.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN

  • Freshman Malcolm Gocha (Plymouth, N.H.) posted runner-up finishes in the 100-Meter (11.91) and 200-Meter (23.98) events
  • Freshman Marshall Berninghausen (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) placed fifth in the hammer throw (25.52m – program record), seventh in the discus throw (27.34m), and eighth in the javelin throw (35.32m)
  • Freshman Harry DeCotis (North Scituate, R.I.) was sixth in the hammer throw (22.35m) and ninth in the discus throw (25.92m)
  • Freshman Joshua Hunter (Lawrence, Mass.) was sixth in the 100-Meter (13.91) and 12th in the 200-Meter (28.85)
  • Junior Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) placed sixth in the 800-Meter (2:11.05) and 10th in the 400-Meter (57.67)
  • Freshman Kevin Cotter (Sandwich, Mass.) finished seventh in the hammer throw (18.94m) and eighth in the shot put (8.24m)
  • Freshman David Free (Quincy, Mass.) was seventh in the shot put (8.97m) and eighth in the discus throw (26.02m)
  • Freshman Avery Liotta-Henderson (Waterbury, Conn.) was ninth in the 800-Meter (2:19.55) and 18th in the 1500-Meter (4:53.01)
  • Senior Taidghe Hagan (Reading, Mass.) placed 12th in the 1500-Meter (4:32.78)
  • Sophomore Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) finished 15th in the 5000-Meter (16:49.51 – program record)
  • Freshman Alex Gutierrez (York, Maine) placed eighth in the hammer throw (17.38m), ninth in the shot put (7.74m) and javelin throw (26.32m), and 10th in the discus throw (23.17m)

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN

  • Freshman Valerie Hubbard (Litchfield, N.H.) was fifth in the 100-Meter hurdles (25.48) and finished 17th in the 100-Meter (18.17)
  • Freshman Meghan Burke (Falmouth, Maine) placed sixth in the discus throw (29.73m) and seventh in the shot put (9.25m)
  • Freshman Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) finished seventh in the 100-Meter (13.73) and 200-Meter (28.71) events
  • Freshman Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) was seventh in the 1500-Meter (5:16.45) and broke her own team record by three seconds with a 10th-place finish in the 800-Meter (2:33.80)
  • Freshman Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) was eighth in the 100-Meter (13.78)
  • Freshman Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine) finished 11th in the hammer throw (17.22m – program record), 12th in the shot put (6.68m) and discus throw (17.10m) events, and was 17th in the 200-Meter (35.91)
  • Sophomore Kyrie Harnden (Wilton, Maine) placed 13th in the 100-Meter (14.73) and 200-Meter (30.86) events
  • Junior Kristina Schelling (Pelham, N.H.) placed 14th in the 1500-Meter (5:39.83)
  • BarrettCurtinHarnden, and Smith raced in the 4x100 Meter relay and finished fourth with a 54.96 time

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's will participate in the Colby College Invitational in Waterville, Maine next Saturday. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
