Monks Open Outdoor Season at Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFIELD, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's College outdoor track & field team opened the spring season with an appearance in the Tufts University Snowflake Classic on Saturday.

Sophomore Andrew D'Ovidio (Walpole, Mass.) highlighted the event for the Monks as the second year athlete shattered the program's javelin throw record with a 49.76-meter toss. D'Ovidio placed seventh overall in the competition.

Overall, 21 individuals combined to compete in 37 individual events in the spring season opener.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Junior Marshall Berninghausen (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) tied his own team record with a 39.46-meter effort in the hammer throw and finished eighth overall
  • Freshman Noah Hutchinson (Southwest Harbor, Maine) placed 11th in the high jump with a 1.83-meter height
  • Freshman Lance Santeusanio (North Berwick, Maine) finished 12th in the same event with a 1.78-meter performance
  • Freshman Anthony Blatus (Dracut, Mass.) finished 14th in the javelin throw (45.04m)
