Saint Joseph's Track and Field Teams Open Outdoor Season at Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, MA – The Saint Joseph's College Men's and Women's Track teams made their season debut in their first meet of the 2023 outdoor season. Traveling down to Bridgewater State the Monks competed at the non-scoring BSU Bears Invitational at Swenson Field. 

Senior High Jumper, Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) had a day for himself clearing 1.90m to write his ticket to the DIII New England Championship. 

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) won the High Jump with his New England qualifying jump of 1.90m, and placed fifth in the Triple Jump with an 11.59m mark. Abbott also placed 12th in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.61m
  • Grad Student Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) placed second overall in the 3000-meter Steeplechase with a 10:50.63 finish
  • Junior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) placed third overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.85
  • Sophomore Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) placed fifth overall in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 53.71 and placed 10th in the Long Jump with a 5.76m mark.
  • Senior Devin Abbott (South Berwick, Maine) paced out the 25-lap 10,000-meter run for a 35:45.77 to place fifth overall
  • Sophomore Dylan Dickey (Laconia, N.H) snagged a sixth and seventh-place finish in the High Jump (1.75m) and Javelin Throw (47.82) respectfully 

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Junior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) placed fifth in the 100-Meter Hurdles (17.30), sixth in the Long Jump (4.72m), and eighth in the High Jump (1.45m)
  • Junior Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) slung the discus for a 27.39m throw placing fourth overall. O'Brien also placed 11th in the Hammer Throw (29.39) and 20th in the Shot Put (8.09m)
  • Freshman Taylor Garland (Saco, Maine) had a great college debut in the discus for sixth place marking a throw of 26.67m and also placed 29th in Shot Put for 7.31m
  • Senior Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) placed eighth overall in the 5000-meter run for 20:45 and placed 12th overall in the 1500-meter run clocking in at 5:27.41
  • Senior Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.) garnered a pair of ninth-place finishes in the Hammer Throw with a 32.20m mark and Discus Throw for 25.62m. Moulton also placed 22nd in the Shot Put (8.43m)
  • First-year Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H) placed tenth overall in her outdoor debut of the 400-meter dash (1:05.41)
