STANDISH, ME - The National Fastpitch Coaches
Association has released its 2009 All-Region Teams and Saint
Joseph's College third baseman Emily
Leverone '11 (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) has been
named to the Northeast Region Second Team.
The first-year player posted a tremendous offensive season for the
29-14 Lady Monks and broke a handful of SJC single-season records.
A 2009 All-Conference First Team selection, she set new campaign
bests for batting (.547), hits (75), doubles (17) and home runs
(8). Her .577 on-base percentage ties the Lady Monks' single-season
record.
She drove in 50 runs, the second-most in a season by a St. Joe's
player, and scored 41 runs, which ties her for the fourth-highest
in a campaign.
Leverone currently leads the GNAC in batting average, hits,
doubles, RBI and total bases (126) and ranks second in triples (5)
and runs scored. She was named as the GNAC Player of the Week three
times and received regional honors as the NEISCA Player of the Week
on April 22nd.
Leverone posted 26 multiple hit games, 16 multiple RBI games and
was held without a hit in just five contests in 2009.
Saint Joseph's went 18-6 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference
play and earned the second seed in the league playoffs. The Lady
Monks advanced to the championship, but fell to top-seeded Emerson
College. Following the tourney loss, St. Joe's earned a berth to
the ECAC Championship Tournament for the second straight season.
