Pence Claims Second GNAC Weekly Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior Meredith Pence (Remington, Va.) has been named as the GNAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this spring.

Pence posted a 3-0 record with a minuscule 0.32 ERA in 22.0 innings last week, allowing just 12 hits while striking out 20 and walking 10 in three starts. She held opposing hitters to a paltry .160 (12-75) batting average and did not yield an earned run while fanning 15 in 15 innings versus Anna Maria and Regis on March 31 and April 2, respectively. In a 2-1 win at UNE on March 29, she allowed just one earned on three hits with five K's in a complete-game victory.

In eight appearances this spring, Pence sports a 6-1 record with a 1.60 ERA and 43 strikeouts while allowing 36 hits and 22 walks in 48 innings. She currently leads the GNAC in ERA and shutouts (2) and ranks third in the conference in wins and opponents' batting average (.207, 36-174).

Saint Joseph's will play at Lasell University on Saturday in a GNAC doubleheader set to begin at 12:00 PM.
