STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's junior center Ashley Geel (St. George, ME) has been listed on the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Weekly Honor Roll.
Geel averaged 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots in a 1-1 conference week for the Monks. The third-year center put up 16 points, 13 boards and six blocks in a pivotal GNAC win over Norwich on February 5th.
Through 20 games for the 13-7 Monks, Geel paces the team in scoring (11.1 PPG), rebounding (6.4 RPG) and blocked shots (35). She has led the Royal Blue in scoring in 11 different contests and averages 12.4 points and 7.0 caroms in conference contests.
Geel is just 13 rejections away from gaining the program's career record for blocked shots. She has 134 blocks in 69 contests and currently ranks second all-time behind Abbie Rice '04, who swatted 146 shots in 103 games.
Saint Joseph's will play at St. Joseph (CT) tonight at 6:00 PM and will host Lasell College on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The team will honor senior Casey Drake (Lebanon, NH) and host a Pink Zone event at the Alfond Center on Saturday.
