STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College freshman Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week and has also garnered Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Co-Rookie of the Week accolades.

Cahill averaged 18.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks while shooting 59% (23-39) from the field in a trio of conference victories last week. The first-year center produced a pair of double-double efforts with 14 points and 10 boards versus Johnson & Wales on Monday and 18 points and 11 caroms against University of Saint Joseph on Saturday and poured in a career-high 24 points in a win over Mount Ida on Wednesday.

The GNAC weekly honor is the fourth of the season and the MWBCA accolade is the fifth of the year for the rookie center. Cahill has earned MWBCA honors for three-consecutive reporting periods and shares this week's award with Maine Maritime Academy freshman Mary Badeen (Newport, Maine).

Through 19 games, Cahill leads the team in scoring (13.0 PPG), field goals made (97), rebounding (8.3 RPG) and blocked shots (39) and ranks second on the team in field goal percentage (.473) and free throws made (53).

She currently paces the GNAC in blocks per contest (2.1) and ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding and sixth in FG%. Cahill also ranks as the GNAC-leader in double-doubles with nine this winter.

Saint Joseph's (12-7, 6-2 GNAC) is set to host non-conference foe Bates College this evening at 7:00 PM.
