McNamara Earns Pair of Weekly Rookie Honors

STANDISH, Maine – Weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Co-Rookie of the Week for the reporting period ending February 14th.

McNamara averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Monks. The freshman standout registered the first double-double of her NCAA career with 20 points and 11 assists in a 70-62 victory over Norwich University on Saturday.

For McNamara, the GNAC rookie award is her seventh of the season and the MWBCA accolade is her fifth of the year. She shares the latter honor with Maine Maritime Academy freshman Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.), who averaged 18.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and one block per game while shooting 50% (19-38) from the field in three games last week.

Through 24 games this winter, McNamara is averaging 13.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest while shooting 38% (108-284) from the field, 40.6% (54-133) from three-point distance, and 78.6% (55-70) from the free throw line. She currently ranks second in the GNAC in three-point percentage, third in three-pointers made, and fourth in assists.

Saint Joseph's (19-5, 9-1 GNAC) closes out the 2015-16 regular season on Saturday when the Monks travel to Paxton, Massachusetts for a conference contest slated to start at 1:00 PM.
