Jabar Named MWBCA Co-Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Jordan Jabar (Waterville, Maine) has been chosen as the MWBCA Co-Rookie of the Week.

Jabar tallied the first double-double of her NCAA career with 11 points and 16 rebounds with six blocked shots in a lopsided victory over Rivier University at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon.

Through eight games for the 7-1 Monks, Jabar is averaging 9.3 minutes of playing time while tallying 2.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. She is currently shooting 35% (7-20) from the floor, 50% (1-2) from beyond the arc, and 75% (3-4) from the free throw line. The weekly accolade is the first of her collegiate career.

Jabar shares the MWBCA honor with University of Southern Maine freshman Kristen Curley (Gorham, Maine), who averaged 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three-point range in two victories last week.

Saint Joseph's is off until New Year's Eve when the team hosts Husson University in a 1:00 PM tip-off.
