McNamara Selected as MWBCA Co-Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has been selected as the Co-Player of the Week for the reporting period ending January 14th.

McNamara averaged 18.7 points, 6.3 assists, 4.3 steals, and 2.0 rebounds per game in a 3-0 week for the Monks. The junior guard scored 24 points with six steals in a lopsided victory over Simmons College on Thursday and produced her second career double-double with 14 points and 10 assists - along with five steals - against Rivier University on Saturday. For the week, McNamara shot 92.9% (13-14) from the FT line.

She shares the weekly honor with Maine Maritime Academy junior Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.), who averaged 20 points, 8.7 rebounds, four assists, 2.3 steals and one block per game in a 2-1 week for the Mariners.

Through 15 games for the 14-1 Monks, McNamara is averaging 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per contest while shooting 41.4% (87-210) from the floor, 35.2% (38-108) from three-point distance, and 87.1% (54-62) from the FT line. She currently leads the team in field goals made and attempted, three-pointers made and attempted, free throws made, attempted, and percentage, assists (86), steals (27), points (266), and scoring average.

McNamara also ranks 13th in NCAA DIII Women's Basketball in total assists and 14th in assists average. For the Monks' junior guard, the MWBCA weekly honor is the third of her career and second of the 2017-18 campaign. She earned the same award on December 4th.

Saint Joseph's will host Anna Maria College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup Saturday at 1:00 PM.
