McNamara Collects MWBCA Weekly Award

STANDISH, Maine - The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has been selected as the MWBCA Tri-Player of the Week.

McNamara averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals while shooting 50% (9-18) from three-point range in a pair of conference wins last week. The junior guard helped the Monks extend their program-record win streak to 21 games with 17 points in a 73-45 victory over Suffolk on Tuesday and 18 points in a 74-39 triumph at Albertus Magnus on Saturday.

McNamara shares the weekly award with Colby College senior Haley Driscoll (Bedford, N.H.), who averaged 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and shot 52.3 percent from the field in three games, and Bowdoin College senior Abby Kelly, who averaged 18.5 points, 4 rebounds and shot 48% from the floor in a 2-0 week for the #3 Polar Bears.

Through 24 games for the 23-1 Monks, McNamara is averaging 17.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 41.3% (142-344) from the field, 39.1% (70-179) from three-point range, and 86.1% (68-79) from the free-throw line. The MWBCA Player of the Week honor is the eighth of her career and fifth of the 2017-18 campaign.

Saint Joseph's closes out the regular season with a home conference contest versus Norwich University on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
