Monks Remain Fourth in NCAA DIII Northeast Regional Rankings

STANDISH, Maine – The second NCAA DIII Women's Basketball Regional Rankings have been announced and Saint Joseph's College remains fourth in the Northeast Region for the second-consecutive week.

As of February 14th, Saint Joseph's is 23-1 overall with a 15-0 record in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The Monks– led by 26th-year Head Coach Mike McDevitt '83 - broke the program's winning streak record with their 18th-consecutive victory – a 66-45 triumph over Regis (Mass.) – on February 1st and extended the streak to 22 games with convincing wins over Albertus Magnus College and Lasell College last week.

The Monks' win streak is the third-longest active streak in NCAA DIII Women's Basketball. #1 Amherst College has won 57-consecutive games while Wartburg College owns a 24-game winning streak. Saint Joseph's has not suffered a setback since falling to Babson College in the Keene State Tip-Off Tournament on November 17th.

Saint Joseph's, winners of the last two GNAC Championships, has also won 33-consecutive home games – the second-longest string of home victories behind Rose-Hulman (36).

Three nationally-ranked teams continue to sit ahead of the Monks in the second regional ranking release, as #1 Amherst College (24-0) – the reigning national champion, #3 Bowdoin College (23-1) and #12 Tufts University (21-3) fill the top slots in the Northeast.

Roger Williams University (20-3), UMass.-Dartmouth (20-3), Smith College (18-5), Middlebury College (17-7), Wesleyan College (15-7), WPI (18-5), University of New England (18-5), and Connecticut College (15-8) round out the top 12 teams in the region.

Saint Joseph's currently ranks third nationally in winning percentage (.958), fourth in scoring margin (25.8), seventh in three-point field goals made (208), ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.25) and three-point shooting percentage (37.6%), and 10th in assists (431) and three-point field goals per game (8.7).  

The Monks close out the regular season Saturday with a conference home game versus Norwich University at 1:00 PM.
