STANDISH, Maine - Women's basketball weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) is listed on the New England Women's Basketball Coaches Association (NEWBA) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly honor rolls.
McNamara earned GNAC Tournament MVP honors for the third-consecutive season after averaging 27.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists while shooting 48% (24-50) from the floor, 46.4% (13-28) from three-point land, and 87% (20-23) from the FT line in three conference tournament contests last week. She netted 26 in a quarterfinal win over Mount Ida, 31 - including 16 in the fourth quarter - in a semifinal victory over Albertus Magnus, and 24 off a 5-9 effort from three-point distance in a GNAC Championship victory over Suffolk.
The 2018 First Team All-Conference selection is currently averaging 18.7 points, 5.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 42.5% (173-407) from the floor, 40.2% (86-214) from three-point range, and 86.7% (91-105) from the FT line during her junior campaign. She leads the Monks in scoring, points (523), field goals made and attempted, three-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, free-throw percentage, assists (160), steals (49), and blocked shots (11).
Saint Joseph's (27-1, 16-0 GNAC) claimed the GNAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament with a 73-59 conference championship victory at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday and, as announced this afternoon, will face UMass.-Boston - the Little East Conference champion - at Amherst College on Friday at 5:00 PM.
