Fillion & Jordan Earn MWBCA Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The 2020 Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) postseason honors have announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have earned accolades.

Sophomore guard Alyson Fillion (Bedford, N.H.) has collected Second Team All-State honors while freshman guard Bri Jordan (Gray, Maine) is listed on the All-Rookie Team.

Fillion, who also garnered Third Team All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) accolades, averaged 11.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 38.1% (119-312) from the field 35.4% (51-144) from three-point distance, and 74.4% (29-39) from the FT line as a first-year starter.

Jordan is listed on the six-player All-Rookie Team after averaging 6.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 37.8% (56-148) from the floor and 63.8% (67-105) from the free-throw line in 28 games as a freshman. The paced the Monks in scoring in three different games and was the team's top rebounder in four contests during the 2019-20 campaign.

Under the watch of 27th-year Head Coach Mike McDevitt '83, the Monks posted a 19-9 overall record with a 9-2 mark in GNAC play en route to earning the #2 seed in the conference tournament. St. Joe's slipped past #7 Johnson & Wales in GNAC quarterfinal play and #3 Regis in the semifinal round to advance to the GNAC Championship game for the fifth-consecutive year.

Although the Monks fell to top-seeded Emmanuel in the title contest on February 29th, the season was a remarkable success considering the program lost to graduation nearly 80% of its offensive production from a 2018-19 team that went 28-2 and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA DIII Tournament.
