Stapelfeld Collects Third MWBCA Rookie of the Week Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) has been named as the MWBCA Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

In a 3-0 conference week for the Monks, Stapelfeld averaged 13.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 53.8% (14-26) from the floor, .500 (5-10) from three-point range, and 100% (8-8) from the free throw line. The freshman guard scored a career high 20 points in an 84-53 victory at Rivier University on Tuesday.

Through 21 games this winter, Stapelfeld is averaging 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while posting shooting percentages of 48.3% (72-149), 40.7% (22-54), and 83.3% (35-42) from the field, beyond the arc, and the charity stripe, respectively. She ranks second on the team in field goal percentage and free-throw percentage and third in field goals made, free throws made, scoring average, and points (201).

Saint Joseph's College (17-4, 12-1 GNAC) will play at Anna Maria College on Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM.
