PAXTON, Mass. – Junior guard Hannah Talon (Windham, Maine) scored 24 points to help lift Saint Joseph's College (18-4, 13-1 GNAC) past Anna Maria College (6-15, 3-10 GNAC), 87-65, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball contest on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Talon netted eight points in the first two and a half minutes to provide the Monks with an 11-3 advantage, but the AMCATS clawed back into contention with a 15-7 run as a Marinique Reddin layup knotted the game at 18-all with 27 seconds left in the first quarter.
Junior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) hit a three-pointer at the end of the opening frame to ignite a 22-5 outbreak, which concluded with an Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) layup and the visitors owning a 40-23 cushion at the 6:20 mark of the second quarter.
St. Joe's maintained a double-digit lead until the 5:43 mark of the third period when Anna Maria cut the SJC advantage down to eight points (53-45) on the heels of a 14-5 run that began in the closing minutes of the second stanza.
The Monks proceeded to all but close the door on the AMCATS with a 29-7 surge over the following eight minutes as the Royal Blue secured a game-high 30-point (82-52) lead after Hailey Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) drilled a three with 7:20 remaining.

Saint Joseph's scored 26 points off 15 Anna Maria turnovers and held the lead in second chance points (24-6) and three-pointers made (12-4) in the triumph.

- Arianna Saladini paced the AMCATS with 22 points off an 8-of-12 shooting effort while grabbing four boards and dishing three assists
- Reddin came off the bench to score 18 points with seven boards and five assists
- Gina Parmenter added 10 points and a pair of rebounds

With the victory Saint Joseph's improves to 15-0 in the history of the series with Anna Maria College.
