STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic
Conference has released its weekly award honors for the April
21st-April 27th reporting period. Senior shortstop
Luke Enman (Milan, NH/Berlin HS)
has been named the GNAC Baseball Player of the Week and sophomore
Andrew Keirstead (Westbrook, ME)
has been named the Pitcher of the Week.
Enman, the 2008 GNAC Player of the Year, receives
the award for the third time this season after hitting .563 (9-16)
with a .875 slugging percentage in leading the Monks to a 4-0
record in the GNAC tournament, including a 7-1 road win over
regular season champion Suffolk University. Enman was named to the
GNAC All-Tournament Team for his play during the tourney and leads
the conference so far this season in batting average (.424,
53-125), slugging percentage (.784) and on-base percentage
(.522).
Keirstead made three appearances in the GNAC
tournament, including a complete game victory over Suffolk
University in the quarterfinals on April 24th. The southpaw threw
an inning in relief against Albertus Magnus in the preliminary
round on April 22nd and also earned his second save of the year
when he pitched the final 1.1 innings of the championship game to
nail down the victory for the Monks. For his efforts he was named
as the GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. For the week,
Keirstead allowed 12 hits, 3 earned runs and 3 walks in 11.1
innings and posted a 2.38 ERA with a win and a save. The sophomore
leads St. Joe's with five wins this season against just one loss.
