NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Saint Joseph's College (13-23, 8-8 GNAC) split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) baseball doubleheader at Norwich University (12-22, 8-8 GNAC) on Sunday afternoon. The Monks opened with a 7-2 triumph and ended the day with an 8-7 setback at the hands of the Cadets.

Grad starter Matthew Bergeron (Salem, N.H.) was dominant in the opener, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in a complete-game performance. Sophomore center fielder Jared Wilhelm (Tolland, Conn.) led the offense by going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI while junior third baseman Michael Wearne (Ellington, Conn.) was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI in the victory.

In the closing contest, Saint Joseph's held a 7-4 lead going into the bottom of the ninth, but the Cadets took advantage of an SJC error and earned three free passes at the bat en route to recording a walk-off triumph. Wearne enjoyed another fine game by going 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI while sophomore catcher Michael Richards (Melrose, Mass.) was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Wilhelm, sophomore Dylan Brander (Merrimack, N.H.), and senior Luke Stephens (Glastonbury, Conn.) added two hits apiece.
