Wilhelm & Bergeron garner MCBSA All-State Honors

STANDSIH, MAINE - The Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) announced its end-of-the-year all-state honors on Wednesday, June 5th and Saint Joseph's baseball had two players recognized. 

Sophomore outfielder Jared Wilhelm (Tolland, Conn.) and graduate student Matthew Bergeron (Salem, N.H.) has been listed on the MCBSA All-State Second-Team.

Wilhelm tallied MCBSA second-team honors after an outstanding season, hitting .378 (51-135) over 38 games. His performance included 22 runs, nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, 25 RBIs, and eight stolen bases. Wilhelm led the team in multiple categories, including hits, triples, home runs, RBIs, batting average, on-base percentage (.431), and slugging percentage (.541) during his sophomore campaign.

Bergeron has been named to the MCBSA All-State second team following an impressive season. This season, Bergeron was 3-6 with a 3.38 ERA and 52 strikeouts, against just 14 walks, in 69.1 innings. Bergeron rounded out his career 24-16 with a 3.85 ERA and 177 strikeouts over 266.1 innings. Is the Monks' all-time leader in innings and ranks second in team history in victories, third in fewest walks allowed per nine innings, 11th in strikeouts, and 12th in WHIP (1.27).

Saint Joseph's posted a 14-25 overall record, including an 8-8 mark in conference play, under the watch of 32nd-year Head Coach Will Sanborn '86 this 2024 season.
