STANDISH, MAINE - Visiting Becker College (6-7)
held a slim 1-0 lead going into half-time, but added two goals in
the 47th and 48th minutes to seal a 3-0 victory.
Although Becker out-shot St. Joe's 16-9 in the first half, the
teams were evenly matched. The Monks failed to capitalize on
scoring opportunities, but sophomore keeper Kelsey
Moody (Gardiner, ME) made 10 of her season-high 14 saves
in the half to keep St. Joe's in the game.
A late goal by Jenny Boggess at 33:16 seemed to break the team's
cohesiveness and led to defensive problems in the second half.
Elizabeth Hatheway and Kaitlyn Gramstorff both scored for Becker
just over a minute apart to put the game out of reach.
Sophomore Darcy Ward (Dresden, ME), junior
Monique Crawford (Peru, ME) and junior
Sarah Kay (Lewiston, ME) recorded 14 of St. Joe's
19 shots in the game.
The team returns to action on 10/22 for a 12:00 game at Wheaton
College (MA).
