Pilgrims Blank Monks, 3-0

HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College (8-7, 7-3 GNAC) scored three goals in the third quarter to defeat Saint Joseph's College (6-7, 6-3 GNAC), 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey matchup on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Meghan McCamish opened the scoring in the 34th minute off a Mikayla Vincent pass and Drea Chin hit pay dirt twice in a matter of 48 seconds – both off Vincent feeds in the 42nd minute – to account for the game scoring.

TEAM STATS:

The Pilgrims held the lead in shots (14-9) and shots on goal (14-3) while the Monks posted a 9-7 edge in penalty corners.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC junior Kassidy Collins (Pittston, Maine) played very well with 11 saves in the setback while NEC goalie Makenzie Anderson stopped all three shots she faced in the victory.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is now 5-3 all-time versus New England College, an institution that joined the GNAC this fall. The Monks defeated the Pilgrims by a 4-0 score in the last meeting, which was played on the Mercy Field grass in Standish on September 9th, 2015.

Saint Joseph's is back at it tomorrow with a non-conference game at Thomas College (1:00 PM).
