Lady Monks End Season on a High Note

Defeat Wheelock College 2-1

BOSTON, MA - St. Joseph's College sophomore midfielder Darcey Ward (Dresden, ME) scored the game-winning goal to push the Monks to a narrow 2-1 victory over Wheelock College in Friday night's women's field hockey game at Wheelock.

The Monks earned their first win of the season to improve to 1-13 overall. Wheelock College wrapped up their season with a record of 0-14 overall.

Ward's game-winner came just under 5 minutes into the second half after Wheelock freshman forward Jill Chaffee (Bridgewater, ME) tied the game with her fourth goal of the year with 7 minutes left in the first half.

Earlier, St. Joseph's junior midfielder Monique Crawford (Peru, ME) opened the scoring to give St. Joseph's the 1-0 lead.

Sophomore goalkeeper Heather Murray (South Attleboro, MA) stopped nine shots for the home Wildcats in the loss while Ellen Gagne (Stoneham, MA) saved one shot to pick up the win for the Monks.
