Field Hockey Earns 3-2 Win over Anna Maria

Standish, ME - First-year Julia Ostrowski (Albany, NY) scored two goals to lead the Monks to a 3-2 win over Anna Maria. St. Joe's improves to 6-8 while Anna Maria drops to 3-13 overall.

Sophomore Kelly Emerson (Vassalboro, ME) put St. Joe's up 1-0 after netting a pass from sophomore Gina Gaetani (Auburn, ME) in the 30th minute. This would be the only goal of the half, but the Monks out-shot Anna Maria 12-2 and held an 8-2 advantage in first half penalty corners.

Ostrowski put the Monks up 2-0 after finishing a pass from junior Darcey Ward (Dresden, ME) at 49:40 and extended the lead with another goal at 57:03 off a pass from first year Jessica Baker (Scarborough, ME).

The Amcats did not go quietly, despite being down 3-0 with less than thirteen minutes to play. Junior Jodi Dube (Gardner, MA) scored off a pass from junior Alicia Gray (Norwich, VT) to make it 3-1 at 66:47. With just over two minutes to play, senior Nicole Eldredge (W. Barnstable, MA) scored an unassisted goal. The Monks fought off the Amcat comeback and earned their sixth win of the season.

First year Karrie Sirois (Thomaston, ME) had two saves for St. Joe's and senior Rachel Braier (Saugus, MA) had seven for Anna Maria.

The Monks host Colby on Wednesday, October 25th at 3 PM for their final home game of the season.
