Ward’s Hat Trick Leads Field Hockey Past Becker

Leicester, MA - Junior Darcey Ward (Dresden, ME) tallied her first career hat trick as St. Joe's (5-7) shut-out Becker College 4-0. First year Julia Ostrowski (Albany, NY) added a goal and two assists for the Monks. Becker drops to 2-12 on the season.

St. Joe's dominated the game, out-shooting the Hawks 17-4 and holding a 13-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Ward put the Monks up 2-0 after knocking in a cross from Ostrowski at 8:00 and tipping in a shot by Ostrowski at 11:51. Less than two minutes into the second half, Ward scored her third goal off a penalty corner pass from first-year Jillian Kimball (Albany Township, ME).

After a scramble in front of the net, Ostrowski collected a ball from first-year Kerrie Boutin (Georgetown, MA) and scored the final goal of the game. First-year Ashley Tessier (Enfield, NH) picked up the win for St. Joe's.

The team hosts Husson College on Friday, October 20th at 3:00 p.m.
