Field Hockey Comes up Short in 3-2 Loss at Husson

Bangor, ME - The Monks came out strong last night at Husson, but an unanswered goal by Shawna Bell (Corinth, ME) just 10 minutes into the game would make the difference as the Eagles took a 3-2 victory.

KaroleAnne Emery (Parkman, ME) put back the rebound of a shot by Erin Brown (Belfast, ME) at 44:35 to make it 2-0.

St. Joe's cut the lead as junior Darcy Ward (Dresden, ME) netted a pass from junior Michelle Cusack (Portland, ME) at 57:31 but Erica Dorso (Farmingdale, ME) scored what would be the game winner at 67:15.

Senior Kristine Benere (Ayer, MA) put a shot over the head of the Husson goalie Kelly Bocchino (Vassalboro, ME) just 43 seconds later off a pass from FY Jamie Brett (Otisfield, ME) to close the gap to 3-2.

Despite a final surge in the last two minutes, the Monks were unable to net the equalizer and drop to 0-3 on the season and Husson improves to 2-0.

First year Karrie Sirois (Thomaston, ME) had 10 saves in the loss and Bocchino had 9 saves. Three first year players, Jamie Brett (Otisfield, ME), Kim Glynn (Danvers, MA) and Jillian Kimball (Albany Township, ME) turned in solid performances for the Monks.

St. Joe's travels to Boston on Saturday, Sept. 16 for a 12:00 game against Simmons College.
