Monks Capture 2-1 Win at Lasell

Ostrowski Picks up Fifth Assist

Newton, MA - First-year Julia Ostrowski (Albany, NY) picked up her fifth assist of the season, setting up sophomore Gina Gaetani (Auburn, ME) for the game winner as the Monks defeated Lasell 2-1. St. Joe's improves to 4-6 on the season.

St. Joe's got on board early as a break away with Ostrowski led to a penalty stroke by junior Darcey Ward (Dresden, ME) at 5:47. This marks Ward's ninth goal of the season and she is 3-for-3 on penalty strokes.

The Monks extended the lead to 2-0 with Gaetani's goal just a minute and a half into the second half. The Lasers responded with a goal by Caitlyn Walker at 52:58, but St. Joe's dominated the game with speed and quickness and secured the win.

First-year Karrie Sirois (Thomaston, ME) had three saves for St. Joe's.

The team travels to Maine-Farmington on Saturday, October 14, for a 12:00 p.m. game.
