Field Hockey Routs Wheelock

Standish, ME - Six different players scored as St. Joe's rolled past Wheelock College 6-0 on Saturday. The Monks improve to 3-4 with their second-straight win and Wheelock drops to 0-8 overall.

The St. Joe's defense got in on the act as it dominated play on its end and held Wheelock shot-less for the entire game.

Sophomore Gina Gaetani (Auburn, ME) got things rolling for the Monks with her first goal of the season at the 5:20 mark off a pass from first-year Jessica Baker (Scarborough, ME) to make it 1-0.

Junior Darcey Ward (Dresdan, ME) connected on a pass from FY Julie Ostrowski (Albany, NY) at 9:40 and Baker put the Monks up 3-0 with a goal at 19:40. FY Jillian Kimball (Albany Township, ME) added her second goal of the season at 23:12 off a pass from sophomore Kelly Emerson (Vassalboro, ME). FY Jaimee Brett (Otisfield, ME) drilled a pass from sophomore Ashley Haynes (Auburn, ME) to give St. Joe's a 5-0 lead at the half.

The Monks were relentless, outshooting Wheelock 13-0 in the first half and 7-0 in the second. Emerson added the final goal of the game at 69:37 off a feed from Ostrowski. St. Joe's also held a 23-1 advantage in penalty corners.
