Waterville, ME - The Saint Joseph's College Field
Hockey team defeated Thomas College (5-7) on Thursday, 7-1, to
improve their record to 11-6. FY Courtney Rague
(Old Orchard Beach, ME) led the way for the Monks, scoring two
goals and adding an assist in the contest.
Thomas College got on the board first when Alyssa Audie (Skowhegan,
ME) scored just 35 seconds after the opening whistle. The Monks
appeared to come out of the gates flat as some of the regulars
weren't in the starting lineup.
St. Joe's tied the game in the 9th minute when SO Jaimee
Brett (Otisfield, ME) scored off a penalty corner taken by
JR Kelly Emerson (Vassalboro, ME). JR
Jessica Baker (Scarborough, ME) put the Monks
ahead to stay in the 31st minute. FY Courtney
Rague (Old Orchard Beach, ME) scored her first goal of the
game in the 33rd minute to put St. Joe's up 3-1.
Coach Lewis' halftime speech seemed to light a fire under the team
as they came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. FY
Alyssa Dunn (Standish, ME) scored the first of
four second half goals for the Monks on a penalty stroke in the
48th minute. Courtney Rague added her second goal
of the match, 3rd of the season, at the 51:22 mark. FY
Kayla Nowell (Bridgton, ME) scored her 5th goal of
the season at the 57:51 mark on an assist from teammate

(Auburn, ME) scored her 3rd goal of the season in the 63rd minute
making the game 7-1 in favor of the Monks. St. Joe's GK FY
Colleen Grant (Bourne, ME) collected 5 saves in
the victory.
The Saint Joseph's College Field Hockey team next plays Sunday,
11/4, at home vs. Ramapo College. Game time is 11:00 AM.
