FARMINGTON -- Kristin Chambers (Gorham, ME) and
Andrea Tyler (Augusta, ME) each had a goal and an assist as the
University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team improved to 2-1
with a 3-0 win over Saint Joseph's on Tuesday at Prescott
Field.
Chambers gave the Beavers a 1-0 lead when she knocked in a loose
ball that had gone off St. Joe's netminder Kathleen
Simoes' pads at 13:46.
Tyler pushed the advantage to 2-0 at 43:51 on a conversion of a
Chambers feed and Ashley Wentworth (North Berwick, ME) completed
the scoring when she slammed in a Tyler pass at 58:46.
UMF goalkeeper Kaeleigh Barker (Chicester, NH) turned back five
shots in the shutout victory. The Beavers held a 13-7 advantage in
shots and a 10-5 command in penalty corners.
Simoes finished with six saves for the Monks (4-2).
The Monks return to action on Thursday, hosting Keene State College at 4 PM.
