STANDISH, ME - Five different Lady Monks scored and the suffocating SJC defense did not allow the AMCATS to record a shot as Saint Joseph's (2-0) defeated Anna Maria College (0-5) on Sunday afternoon, 9-0. Sophomore Kayla Nowell (Bridgton, ME) netted three goals and seniors Kelly Emerson (Vassalboro, ME) and Gina Gaetani (Auburn, ME) each added two goals apiece in the triumph.

Junior Jillian Kimball (Albany Township, ME) also chipped in with a goal and three assists and Julia Ostrowski (Albany, NY) added a goal and an assist in the non-conference victory.

St. Joe's posted 40 total shots, 34 on goal, and held a 9-0 advantage in penalty corners in the contest.

Nowell opened the game scoring in the 18th minute and Ostrowski scored her fourth goal of the season in the 20th minute to put the Royal Blue up by two markers. Nowell struck again in the 23rd minute off a pass from Kimball to cap the first half scoring and give the Lady Monks a 3-0 advantage going into the break.

Emerson scored the next two goals for Saint Joseph's, the first at the 39:25 mark off a pass from Kimball and the second coming two minutes later off a pass from junior Jaimee Brett (Otisfield, ME), to put the Royal Blue ahead, 5-0.

Kimball scored her second goal of the season in the 56th minute with the assist going to freshman Sarah Bartell (Exeter, NH) and Gaetani scored a pair of goals in the following eight minutes, the first of which off passes from Kimball and Ostrowski, to give her team an 8-0 lead. Nowell wrapped up the game scoring in the 67th minute to make the final score 9-0, Lady Monks.

Anna Maria goalkeeper Alyssa Boykin '10 (Worcester, MA) faced 31 shots and made 22 saves in the losing effort.

Saint Joseph's will travel to Biddeford, ME on Tuesday, September 16th to face off against University of New England in a 4:00 PM contest while Anna Maria is slated to host Wheelock College on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
