STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's (6-2, 2-1 NAC) came back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat Castleton State College (8-5, 2-1 NAC)) on Sunday afternoon, 4-2. Gina Gaetani '09 (Auburn, ME) led the way for the Monks with two goals and Julia Ostrowski '10 (Albany, NY) dished out two assists. Kayla Nowell '11 (Bridgton, ME) chipped in with a goal to go along with her two assists and Amanda Sebastiao '12 (Uxbridge, MA) notched the game-winning goal.

With the victory, Head Coach Rupert Lewis takes sole possession of the program's coaching wins record with 27. Melissa Emery Ela previously held the record and coached the Lady Monks to a 26-26 record in three seasons (1998-2000).

Castleton State jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage 15:47 into the game on an unassisted goal by Kayla Blank and then Carolyn Griggs scored off a pass by Trishia Fellows. The score would hold for the rest of the first half.

St. Joe's got on the board quickly in the second half, just 3:48 in, on Nowell's 10th goal of the year. With just under 20 minutes to play, Nowell and Ostrowski assisted on a goal by Gaetani to tie the score at 2-2. The Monks dominated in the second half, outshooting Castleton State, 9-4. And Sebastiao put St. Joe's ahead on one of those shots with her 3rd goal of the season, unassisted. Gaetani capped off the scoring for the day with her second goal of the game and 9th of the year on assists by Nowell and Ostrowski.

Meaghan Johnson '12 (Portland, ME) got the win for Saint Joseph's while making five saves. Siobhan Whittemore took the loss for the Spartans allowing two of the four goals.

The Monks will play their next game on Thursday at the University of Southern Maine (4-5) at 3:30; Castleton State will be in action again next Saturday at Simmons.
