STANDISH, ME - The North Atlantic Conference has
announced their awards for the week ending November 2nd and a pair
of Saint Joseph's College field hockey players have been honored.
Gina Gaetani '09 (Auburn, ME)
takes home Player of the Week honors and Sarah
Bartell (Exeter, NH) has been selected as the
conference Rookie of the Week.
Gaetani, a senior captain, scored the game winning
goal in 1-0 NAC semifinal victory over the University of Maine at
Farmington on Saturday, November 1st. The game-winner was Gaetani's
second of the season and propels the Lady Monks into the NAC
Championship contest in the team's first year in the league. She
currently ranks second on the squad with three defensive saves and
is third in both goals (12) and points (28).
Gaetani has 49 career points, the third-highest total in SJC field
hockey history.
Bartell scored her fourth goal of the season, an
important insurance tally, in a 3-1 NAC quarterfinal victory over
Thomas College on Wednesday, October 29th. Her 12 points ranks
seventh on the team this fall. The league honor is her second of
the season.
The #3 seeded Lady Monks will travel to Vermont on Saturday, November 8th to take on #1 Castleton State College in the North Atlantic Conference Championship game. The winner gains an automatic berth into the NCAA Regional Tournament.
