Pomerleau & Baker Garner GNAC Weekly Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvais weekly awards have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College field hockey players have been honored.

Freshman forward Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine) is the GNAC Rookie of the Week and sophomore Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) has earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

Pomerleau netted her first collegiate hat trick with all three goals in a huge 3-0 victory over Simmons College on Saturday. Through 12 contests, the freshman phenom leads the team in goals (9), points (20), shots (36), and game-winning goals (4). For Pomerleau, the weekly conference honor is her second of the season as she also garnered GNAC Rookie of the Week accolades on September 26th.

Baker notched a pair of shutouts last week with two saves in a 1-0 triumph over Thomas College on Tuesday and seven saves, including several acrobatic stops, in a 3-0 victory over reigning GNAC Champion Simmons College on Saturday. She currently leads the conference in goals against average (1.40), fewest goals allowed (14), and shutouts (3) and ranks sixth with a .689 save percentage.

For Baker, the weekly honor is the third of her collegiate career as the 2015 Second Team All-GNAC honoree was selected as the GNAC rookie and keeper of the week on October 19th, 2015.

Saint Joseph's (7-5, 3-1 GNAC) returns to play Wednesday with a non-conference game at Maine-Farmington. The contest is slated to begin at 3:30 PM.
