ON THIS DATE: Monks Spurn Mules in Double Overtime, 3-2

On October 16th, 2008 Saint Joseph's College edged Colby College, 3-2 in double-overtime, in a non-conference field hockey contest at Lakeside Field.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Junior Julia Ostrowski (Albany, N.Y.) and sophomore Alyssa Dunn (Standish, Maine) scored in the fourth and 66th minutes, respectively and sophomore Kayla Nowell (Bridgton, Maine) netted the game-winner 39 seconds into the second overtime period
  • Freshman goalkeeper Meaghan Johnson (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) made 10 saves
  • Colby held the lead in shots (18-13), shots on goal 14-10, and penalty corners (15-12)
  • For the Monks, the win over Colby was the first in program history
