Monks Shoot Past Blazers, 4-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Four different players scored to lift Saint Joseph's College (6-2, 3-0 GNAC) past Elms College (0-7, 0-2 GNAC), 4-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey action on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks dominated the stat sheet throughout but did not find the back of the net until the 24:53 mark when freshman phenom Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) punched home her sixth goal of the 2022 campaign on a rebound off her own attempt.

Senior Alexa Gutowski (North Conway, N.H.) was credited with an assist on an Aimee Adams (Gardiner, Maine) goal at the 32:41 mark and netted her team-leading 10th tally of the year approximately five minutes later.

Senior Molly McCluskey (Orono, Maine) capped the game scoring with a penalty-stroke marker in the 58th minute.

TEAM STATS:

St. Joe's held sizable leads in shots (24-3), shots on goal (15-0), and penalty corners (14-0) in the conference victory.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC sophomore Kassidy Collins (Gardiner, Maine) was untested in the triumph while Elms netminder Kaitlyn Lynes made 10 saves in a losing effort.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is now 2-0 all-time versus Elms College.

Saint Joseph's will host #8 Kean University in a non-conference matchup on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
