GNAC Championship: Day 1 Recap

BOSTON, MA - The 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championship and Men's Invitational are underway.

Leading the men's field for the second straight year is Norwich University, who recorded 122 points, followed by Elms College with 114, Regis College with 110, and Saint Joseph's College with 79 points.

It was a fast day of competition, with several GNAC and pool records broken. Below is a list of new GNAC and pool records swum today:

 

200 Freestyle Relay: Regis College, 1:30.22
200 IM: Alex Graf, Regis College, 2:01.96
100 Butterfly: Keegan Goan, Elms College, 53.67
100 Breaststroke: Stephen McGovern, Regis College, 1:02.52
50 Butterfly: Keegan Goan, Elms College, 24.21
200 Backstroke: Alex Gilvey, Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 2:04.24
400 Medley Relay: Elms College, 3:48.89
1 Meter Diving: Stephen Resto, Norwich University, 193.80

 

The 2012 GNAC Championship and Men's Invitational will continue tomorrow morning with the first event set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Holmes Sports Center at Simmons College. Sunday's finals will begin at 5:00 p.m.
