SJC Women Sweep, Men Split Tri-Meet

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College hosted Albertus Magnus College and the University of Saint Joseph in a tri-meet at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Friday afternoon. The SJC women swept the day with a 128-65 win over USJ and a 145-35 victory over Albertus while the men split the event with a 56-36 triumph over Albertus Magnus and a narrow 56-54 setback at the hands of USJ.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Lucas Fendl (Ellsworth, Maine) won the 50-Free (24.10) and 100-Fly (59.17) and placed second in the 100-Breast (1:16.59)
  • Senior Shawn Perry (Plaistow, N.H.) placed first in the 100-IM (1:04.13), 100-Back (1:05.14) and 100-Breast (1:11.13) events
  • Junior Zachery Creekmore (New Fairfield, Conn.) finished third in the 200-Free (2:48.63) and sixth in the 50-Free (32.56)

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Senior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) won the 1000-Free (12:13.27) and 500-Free (5:58.14)
  • Junior Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) finished first in the 50-Free (26.23), 100-Free (56.97)
  • Junior Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) won the 100-IM (1:08.44) and placed second in the 100-Back (1:10.29)
  • Sophomore Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) won the 100-Back (1:10.13) and finished fourth in the 100-IM (1:13.26)
  • Freshman Berkley Hutchins (Springfield, Vt.) won the 100-Breast (1:14.73)
  • Freshman Evelyn Soule-Parent (Lyman, Maine) placed second in the 1000-Free (12:55.21), third in the 100-Free (1:03.34)
  • Freshman Gracie Parker (Bar Harbor, Maine) finished second in the 200-Free (2:18.20) and third in the 500-Free (6:10.65)
  • Senior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) was second in the 100-Fly (1:33.78) and fourth in the 100-Breast (1:31.07)
  • Freshman Bri Letourneau (Lewiston, Maine) was second in the 100-Breast (1:26.93) and third in the 200-Free (2:24.51)
  • Sophomore Hannah Murphy (Quakertown, Pa.) placed fourth in the 50-Free (30.63)
  • Sophomore Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) finished fourth in the 100-Fly (1:39.29) and sixth in the 200-Free (2:50.77)
  • Soucy, Hutchins, Twombly, and Parker won the 200-Medley relay with a 2:04.94 time
  • Hutchins, Soule-Parent, Podsiadlo, and Matthews won the 400-Free relay (4:03.09)

NEXT!

The Monks are back in action on Friday, November 17th when they host Regis College at 6:00 PM. The program will celebrate the team's three seniors: Shawn Perry, Brooke Podsiadlo, and Ashley Thompson with a brief ceremony prior to the start of the event.
