Gilvey and Riddell Honored by Conference

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College men's swimmers have been honored.

Sophomore Alexander Gilvey (Windham, Maine) and freshman Ian Riddell (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) have both earned GNAC Weekly Honor Roll mention for their performance in a meet with Gordon College last Saturday.

Gilvey won the 50-Back (27.10) and finished second in the 200-Back (2:09.42) and 200-IM (2:13.50) races while Riddell earned top finishes in the 50-Free (24.09) and 100-Free (53.48) events and also swam legs for both of the Monks' runner-up relay teams versus the Fighting Scots. Gilvey also swam the opening leg of the Monks' 200-Medley relay, which placed second with a 1:46.77 time.

For Gilvey, the honor roll listing counts as his third of the 2013-14 campaign while the accolade is a career-first for Riddell.

Saint Joseph's caps the 2013-14 season when the team competes in the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at University of Rhode Island, which begins on Friday, February 14th.
