Monks Earn Second Place Finish in Opener

STANDISH, ME - The SJC men's cross country team placed second behind Southern Maine in the Runnin' Monks Early Bird Invitational on Saturday hosted by Saint Joseph's College. Senior Ryan Prescott (Pittsfield, NH) placed second overall in the 5K event with a time of 16:44, just behind Southern Maine's Tyler Jasud '10 (Rumford, ME), who finished first in the event with a time of 16:41.The Huskies placed nine out of the top ten runners in the event.

University of New England sophomore Matt Veiga (Lynn, MA) ran the 5K race in 17:34, good for 11th place and New England College senior Mike Harrison (Newbury, NH) placed 22nd with a 18:35 time, both top finishes for their respective teams.

SJC freshman Bobby Britten (Scarborough, ME) posted a 18:03 time, good for 15th overall, and was the next Monks runner to cross the finish line. Junior
Jeremy Allen (Rutland, VT) completed the race in 18:28 to earn a 20th place finish.

St. Joe's will compete next on September 27th in the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, MA.
