Monks Compete in 2023 NCAA DIII East Regionals

HOPKINTON, N.H. – Saint Joseph's College competed in the 2023 NCAA DIII East Regional Cross Country Championships at Hopkinton Fair Grounds on Saturday. The SJC men placed 27th with 767 points while the St. Joe's women finished 32nd with 946 points.

With the top three finishers – including individual winner Sam Acquaviva (24:36.21) – MIT totaled 35 team points to claim the 2023 NCAA DIII East Regional Men's Cross Country Championship. Tufts University was the runner-up with 57 points while Bates College (97), Bowdoin College (118), and WPI (130) rounded out the top five teams on the men's side.

MIT, which featured three of the top five finishers, completed the team championship sweep with 27 points to win the NCAA DIII East Regional Women's Cross Country Championship. Bates was second (81 points), WPI – led by individual winner Grace Hadley (20:48.86) – finished third (100), Tufts placed fourth (131), and Colby College raced to a fifth-place finish (189).

FOR THE MONKS – MEN:

  • Junior Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) finished 113th with a 28:03.04 time
  • Sophomore Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine) placed 132nd (28:38.93)
  • Senior Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) was 164th (29:47.77)
  • Freshman Diamond Doe (Pawtucket, R.I.) raced to a 187th place finish (31:21.94)
  • Freshman Emilson Zocolo (Lewiston, Maine) finished 189th (31:29.06)
  • Junior Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine) was 196th (31:46.35)

FOR THE MONKS – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H.) placed 174th with a 28:49.61 time
  • Freshman Ava Moffett (Livermore Falls, Maine) finished 175th (28:53.24)
  • Junior Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) was 206th (32:14.95)
  • Freshman Breya Whitman (Auburn, Maine) placed 217th (34:46.16)
  • Freshman Haley Lang (New Gloucester, Maine) was 221st (35:40.09)
  • Junior Lindy Hyndman (Auburn, Maine) finished 22nd (35:45.66)
  • Junior Alexia Smith (Scarborough, Maine) placed 224th (36:48.67)
