STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's senior
Ryan Prescott (Pittsfield, NH)
has been named the GNAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, his
third honor of the year, for the September 29th-October 5th
reporting period.
In a "photo finish" at the 37th Annual Pop Crowell Invitational,
hosted by Gordon College in Wenham, MA, Prescott placed second
behind Roger Williams runner Kevin Clark. Clark paced all runners
with a 26:22 time in the 8K event and Prescott finished right
behind him just a split second off the pace as both runners dove
across the finish line.
Prescott's time in the event is the best mark he has posted this
season and is the third-best in the 37-year history of the Pop
Crowell Invitational. Kenyan Felix Cheriuyot of Roberts Wesleyan
holds the top time and ran the course in 26:06 in 1999.
Prescott is no stranger to conference awards. The three-sport
athlete (lacrosse, club ice hockey) received cross country runner
of the week honors on four occasions in 2007. He was named the 2007
GNAC Runner of the Year after winning the GNAC Championship race,
which was hosted by Saint Joseph's on October 27th.
