STANDISH, ME - The St. Joe's men's cross country
team earned a first place finish with 43 team points in the Runnin'
Monks Invitational, held on the SJC campus, on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Prescott ‘09
(Pittsfield, NH) won the race with a 27:41 time in the 8K event,
1:24 ahead of runner-up Ty Thurlow ‘09 (Lee, ME) of
University of Maine at Farmington.
As for the remaining team results, University of Maine at
Farmington placed second with 47 team points, followed by Maine
Maritime Academy (52 pts.), Lasell College (93) and University of
Maine at Presque Isle (109).
The gorgeous fall day yielded fine results for the SJC men's squad,
as three athletes placed in the top seven for the day.
Jeremy Allen ‘10 (Rutland,
VT) ran the race in 30:06 to place sixth and teammate
Bobby Britten ‘12
(Scarborough, ME) was right behind, 30:07, in seventh place.
Rounding out the top five individual finishers were Cam Betts
‘12 (Gray, ME) in third (29:40); followed by a pair of Maine
Maritime Academy participants, Greg Baribault ‘11 (Amston,
CT) (29:51) and Matt Methot ‘12 (Portland, ME) in fourth and
fifth place (29:52), respectively.
The top-finish for Prescott was his second of the
season and marked the 17th consecutive event where he completed a
race as the top St. Joe's runner, dating back to his sophomore
season.
Saint Joseph's will travel to Cumberland, ME next Saturday to
participate in the State of Maine Championships hosted by
University of Southern Maine at the Twin Brooks Recreation Center.
The start time for the men is 2:00 PM with the women to follow at
3:00 PM.
