DiSalvo Earns Second GNAC Runner of the Week Honor

STANDISH, ME – SJC sophomore runner Joe DiSalvo (Derry, N.H.) has earned GNAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this fall.

DiSalvo claimed his first NCAA individual victory with a 29:24 performance in the 2012 Runnin' Monks Invitational 8K race at Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon. The second-year runner won the meet in thrilling fashion, as DiSalvo sprinted past the eventual runner-up finisher in the final stretch to clinch the victory by just hundredths of seconds.

DiSalvo's efforts helped the Monks place fourth in the Runnin' Monks Invitational, an 8K race hosted by Saint Joseph's annually. He claimed his first GNAC Runner of the Week accolade on September 24th after recording a career-best 26:23 effort in the Raiders Invitational three days earlier.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the State of Maine Championship on Saturday in Gorham at 11:45 AM.
