Leverone Breaks Program Record for Career Home Runs

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's sophomore outfielder Emily Leverone (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) is the new softball program record-holder for career home runs.

After belting three long balls in a sweep over GNAC rival Lasell College on Wednesday, Leverone has 13 homers in nearly two full seasons while donning the Royal Blue. The tater tally breaks the mark held for nearly eight years by Kelly Premo '02, who hit 12 in her four seasons at St. Joe's.

Leverone, affectionately known as “The Masher” by her teammates, registered eight RBI in the twinbill against the Lasers and has 100 in her two seasons at St. Joe's, with exactly 50 RBI in each campaign. She is just the fourth player in program history to reach the century mark for runs batted in.

Through 75 games and 239 career at bats, Leverone ranks as the program's all-time leader in home runs (13), batting average (.519, 124-239), slugging percentage (.866), on-base percentage (.554) and OPS (1.420).

Saint Joseph's (27-5, 20-0 GNAC), which is on a 23-game winning streak, will travel to Nashua, NH for a GNAC doubleheader against Rivier College (24-1, 18-0 GNAC), starting at 4:00 PM, on Friday.
