Softball Incoming Class Announced

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College Softball Head Coach Jamie Smyth '92 is pleased to announce his incoming recruiting class.

The softball class of 2027 features six players - five from Maine and one from New Hampshire - with three transfers and three first years. The group figures to infuse talent, depth, and character to a team that went 21-18 overall with an 8-2 mark in GNAC play last spring.

The 2023 Monks claimed the #2 seed in the North Division for the GNAC Tournament and opened the tourney with a 3-1 victory over #3N Emmanuel College on Thursday, May 4th before suffering losses to eventual GNAC Champion #1N Simmons University and #2N Lasell University.

Saint Joseph's graduated four major contributors from the 2023 squad: starting pitchers Emily EaglestonSydney Hatch and Meredith Pence and first baseman Olivia Howe. Pence claimed First Team All-Conference honors and Howe was named as the GNAC Player of the Year after hitting .463 (56-121) with 22 runs, 11 doubles, three home runs, and 25 RBI while starting all 39 of the Monks' games.

"This year's recruiting class is a unique mix of young talent and several impact transfer students," says Coach Smyth. "The coaching staff is anxious to get to work this fall with this new group and the returning players to start building the foundation for another successful season."
